This is a civil rights action in which eleven named Plaintiffs seeks relief for the violation of their rights secured by 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and the First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendments by Leon Valley Police Department (LVPD). There are others that had their rights violated by LVPD, but as of this time they have not joined this suit or filed a separate action.
This action involves activity that took place on June 14, 2018, June 18, 2018 and June 23, 2018. There are numerous videos on YouTube that document the incidents that bring rise to this suit. The suit was filed July 4, 2018 in the UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT- WESTERN DISTRICT OF TEXAS - SAN ANTONIO DIVISION.
On November 18, 2018 the suit was stayed for a period of six months. At the conclusion of six months from the date of the Order, the parties are instructed to confer and file a joint advisory with the Court discussing their respective views on whether the case is then ready to proceed or should remain stayed. They should include relevant supporting authority, as well as any relevant specific facts.
