Two OTHER infamous "last words"
Jim Lonborg, to a reporter, sometime during the Winter immediately following his 1967 Cy Young Award winner season:
"I don't ski FAST enough to get hurt!"
Tommy Mohegan, age 11, to me, immediately before blowing his balls, thumb, and index finger off in his dad's workshop, by trying to make a hole by sticking a hot awl tip through the side of a homemade firework casing he whipped together i half-baked, Rube Goldberg fashion, as I ran to the opposite end of the room quickly as possible after voicing my dire concerns:
"Don't worry. I know that I'm doing"
He survived but was hospitalized for some time, and I was not physically injured but had a high pitched whistling sound in my ears for the rest of the entire Summer.
Always blessed with the ability to hone in on the essence and importance of a good nick-name, after that, my friends and I always referred to Tommy as "The last of the Mohegans".
